A father in Delhi is under fire after a viral video showed him calmly watching his young son urinate on the tracks at Inderlok Metro Station. The clip, filmed by a bystander, captures the man standing beside the child as someone behind the camera calls them 'shameless' and pans to reveal the station’s name.

In the video, a man possibly a Metro staffer approaches and questions the father, who mutters something before walking away. The incident has triggered heated reactions online, especially since Delhi Metro stations have clean, accessible toilets.

“Toilets in trains and at railway stations are dirty, it’s understandable that you can’t use them, but at metro stations, there are toilets, and they’re clean too. So why, man?” one X user wrote. Another demanded heavy penalties: “Why he is not penalised, samjhane se log nahi darte jab tak 10-20 hzar ka chalan na ho (People don’t get scared by explanations unless there’s a fine of ₹10–20,000).” Others criticised the tendency to blame the government for everything, saying personal responsibility is key to public cleanliness.

Some called for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to issue a steep fine, while others expressed embarrassment over such public behaviour.

DMRC, in response to a similar 2022 incident at Malviya Nagar, had urged commuters to immediately report such acts via their 24×7 helpline numbers 155370 or 155655 so officials can take swift action.

“In case any such activity is noticed, passengers may contact nearest DMRC official or contact our 24×7 helpline no. 155370 or Security helpline no. 155655 so that immediate action can be taken,” DMRC had stated at the time.

This latest episode has reignited the debate on civic sense in public spaces proof that infrastructure alone can’t fix a mindset problem.
