Watch: Drunk man caught sleeping with leg in rice vessel at Telangana hostel; removed from duty
HYDERABAD: The Sangareddy district authorities removed a watchman from duties, as he was found in an inebriated condition, sleeping in the kitchen with one leg in a vessel containing cooked rice in a boys' hostel.
A video of the watchman, made by the students of Govt Polytechnic College SC/ST Boys Hostel at Ishmailkhanpet, went viral. The incident took place on November 12. Following the incident coming to light, the district administration ordered the removal of hostel watchman Shekhar from service on November 12.

The District Collector sought a report and directed Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Chandrasekhar to initiate prompt action. According to the principal’s report, on the night of November 12, the watchman Shekhar, under the influence of alcohol, placed his feet in a vessel of cooked rice in the hostel kitchen.
Based on the report submitted by Polytechnic Principal P. Janaki Devi, action was initiated. The Additional Collector confirmed that Shekhar was removed from duty as instructed by the Collector. Officials have been directed to assign a teacher for daily hostel supervision.
The principal has been cautioned to ensure quality and hygienic food for students. The Additional Collector instructed officials to maintain strict monitoring of hostels to prevent such incidents in the future.
