Who is Raghav Goyal? BJYM-linked man held in Punjab Vigilance bribery case

BATHINDA: Raghav Goyal allegedly arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a Rs 20 lakh bribery case from a five-star hotel in Chandigarh late on Monday belongs to Malout town in Punjab’s Muktsar district.

Malout resident Raghav Goyal is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). He was reportedly in Chandigarh with his father, Vikas Goyal, when a CBI team reached their residence in Malout around 10 pm on Monday. The team left around 1 am after carrying out searches for nearly three hours.

Raghav Goyal is believed to have been acting as a middleman in the bribery case involving a reader to a senior Punjab Police official.

The action is reportedly linked to the raid conducted at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau headquarters in Mohali.

However, no official statement had been issued till the filing of this report.

Some BJP workers gathered outside the house during the raid, but they also said they had no information about the CBI action.

The CBI team is learnt to have seized some documents and cash from the premises.

According to sources, Raghav Goyal’s family is reportedly associated with a retired IPS officer from the Punjab cadre.

The family is involved in civil works contracting, including drain-cleaning projects.

It is also learnt that Raghav had links with senior BJP leaders in Punjab and Delhi, and frequently posted photographs with them on social media.
