A disturbing case has emerged from Kanyakumari, where a Pentecostal pastor has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a young married woman under the pretext of spiritual healing.
The incident took place in the Mekkamandapam area, where the woman, battling ongoing health issues, visited the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church seeking relief. Her relatives had taken her there with hopes of a divine cure. Pastor Regimon, claiming prophetic powers, assured her that her illness was tied to her relationship with her husband. Shockingly, he reportedly told her, “Your health issues stem from your relationship with your husband. If you sleep with a prophetic like me you will be cured.”
Claiming he needed to pray for her privately, he allegedly embraced her inappropriately and tried to assault her. The woman managed to escape and filed a complaint at the Thuckalay police station. Based on her account, the police arrested Pastor Regimon on June 26, 2025, and sent him to judicial custody.
According to the victim’s family, the woman had been married for two years but was living with her parents due to ongoing health issues and personal challenges. Hoping for spiritual healing, her relatives took her to Pastor Regimon’s church in Mekkamandapam, Pandivilai. There, Regimon allegedly claimed that donating a tithe-10% of her income-to the church would cure her ailments.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over unregulated faith practices that exploit vulnerable individuals in the name of healing.
