WBJEE Result 2025 Postponed: What You Need to Know

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) result 2025 has been officially postponed, adding to the growing concerns among students and parents. Initially set to be declared on August 7, the results are now delayed again, and the new date is currently awaited from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board ( WBJEEB ).

Reason Behind the Delay

The delay has been attributed to ongoing legal issues. A Calcutta High Court directive has paused the result declaration and related admission processes. The court is currently reviewing a contempt case concerning a possible violation of an earlier court order.

Key Legal Events Leading to the Delay:

  • The Calcutta High Court initiated a contempt case based on complaints from candidates of WBJEE and JEMAS-PG.

  • The case references a previous court order from May 21, 2025, which may have been violated.

  • The Division Bench is yet to decide on the stay application, halting the release of results and the counselling process.

What Did the WBJEEB Chairperson Say?

WBJEEB Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee had earlier confirmed that the result would be declared on August 7. In a statement to PTI, she explained:

“From July 31, candidates are required to upload their caste certificate details on the WBJEE portal by August 2. The board will update all candidate information before publishing the results.”
However, due to the legal intervention, this plan has been put on hold.

    OBC Reservation and Court Dispute

A large part of the delay has stemmed from disputes related to the revised list of OBC categories issued by the West Bengal government. Initially, the High Court had halted its implementation, which was later stayed by the Supreme Court, temporarily allowing the board to proceed.
