In 2023, Sen made history as the first Indian actress cast in a Korean film, titled Asia. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lee Jung-sub, the action thriller is a cross-cultural collaboration, bringing together talent from across Asia.
About Her Role in Asia
In a chat with Variety, Anushka Sen revealed that Asia is a high-octane action thriller featuring talent from across the continent.“It’s an action thriller, and it has people from all over Asia, different countries; people are joining in for this big movie. And it’s a global film. It’s a K-film, and I’m really excited to be a part of it.” She added, “We have shot the first schedule, and we are now waiting for the second. I’m playing an assassin for the very first time.”
How She Landed the Role
Anushka Sen made history in 2023 as the first Indian actress to be cast in a Korean film. In an interview with WION, she shared that “They said they've been following my work for two years and thought I would be fit for the character they're looking for. There were several Zoom calls.” She said the process was different from traditional auditions. “Usually when you are auditioning for a part, you have a script, and you record that as a self-test. But here, it was more about them getting to know me.”
The process spanned several months, with language proving to be a hurdle. “The director doesn't speak English, and I’m also not fluent in Korean, so a translator would always be at work,” she added.

Anushka Sen’s fascination with Korean entertainment began during the COVID lockdown. “K-dramas gave me a sense of comfort and wholesomeness,” she told Variety. In her conversation with WION, she added, “I'm a big manifestor; I believe in manifestations. I was so absorbed into the whole K-drama world and the Korean wave that I manifested my way into it.”
When it comes to her favorite Korean actor, it’s Lee Min-ho.“To me he's the best because of the different characters that he has done; be it or , it's fantastic” she said.
