Blockbuster Alert! R Madhavan Joins Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli's SSMB29 – What to Expect?

Exciting developments are underway for SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film SSMB29. The big-budget action-adventure stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra in the lead, and now, reports suggest that R Madhavan is the latest addition to the cast. While the makers have not officially confirmed Madhavan’s involvement, sources say he will play a pivotal role in the film, which is said to have a massive budget of Rs 1,000 crore. The film also has Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran play a central role.

This is the first time that R Madhavan and SS Rajamouli, the visionary director of Baahubali and RRR, have collaborated.

An Indiana Jones-Style Adventure

SSMB29 is rumored to be an action-adventure drama inspired by films like Indiana Jones. The project’s story has been developed by Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad, who confirmed the genre in past interviews. Rajamouli even conducted a location recce in Kenya in 2024, hinting at the film’s international scale and settings.

While the shoot was to start from mid-2024, pre-production setbacks have pushed the timeline further. But Rajamouli recently tested the waters of the film during a function in Japan, introducing Mahesh Babu to global fans as “very handsome” and assuring that they would fall in love with him once the film hits the screens.

Madhavan’s Busy Slate

Besides SSMB29, R Madhavan has also been involved in a romantic drama called Aap Jaisa Koi with Fatima Sana Shaikh, where he portrays the role of Madhu Bose opposite Fatima’s Shrirenu Tripathi.

SSMB29 would have music by M.M. Keeravani, following his long-term association with Rajamouli. With such a brilliant cast and geographically expansive storyline, the movie is poised to be one of the biggest Indian cinematic extravaganza in recent history.
