Akshay Kumar has finally delivered a blockbuster hit after a long drought at the box office. His latest film Housefull 5, also starring Ritesh Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan, has broken the dry spell by crossing the ₹300 crore mark worldwide—a feat none of his last 14 films could achieve in the past five years.

Released on 6 June 2025, Housefull 5 had a slow start, sparking doubts about whether it could recover its massive ₹240 crore budget. But thanks to strong word-of-mouth and its ensemble cast, the comedy has steadily gained momentum. On its 26th day in theatres, the film is still raking in money, collecting ₹26 lakh domestically that day.

Celebrating the milestone, producer Sajid Nadiadwala posted on X (formerly Twitter), thanking audiences for the “unforgettable journey” and confirming that the film has collected over ₹200 crore in India and more than ₹300 crore globally. This success not only covers the film’s production cost but also marks a significant turnaround for Akshay Kumar’s recent track record.

In the last five years, Akshay has released 14 films, including Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Selfiee, and Mission Raniganj, but none managed to touch the ₹300 crore global benchmark. The last time he reached this mark was with Good Newwz in December 2019.

So far in 2025, Akshay has had three releases—Kesari Chapter 2, Sky Force, and now Housefull 5. While the first two performed modestly, Housefull 5

has emerged as a clear hit. It’s also the only comedy franchise film this year to cross the ₹300 crore mark, proving once again the enduring power of the Housefull brand and Akshay’s comic timing when paired with the right script and ensemble.
