This announcement comes over three years after Pattinson first appeared as the Dark Knight in his solo franchise, The Batman

(2022). Reeves confirmed the progress via an Instagram post on June 27. Although Matt's interpretation of the superhero is not included in the DCU, the enthusiasm for its sequel remains undiminished.

The Batman: Part II is on track
Matt posted a picture of the completed script featuring him and co-writer Mattson Tomlin in the blurred background. The image displayed the script with the Batman logo on the cover and a faint title stating: The Batman: Part II

The Batman 2 delay
The Batman, released in 2022, starred Robert Pattinson as the iconic Caped Crusader, alongside Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as The Riddler. The Batman 2 was announced in the same year and was initially scheduled for release in 2026, but production faced delays due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023.
The latest update regarding The Batman arrives just weeks before James Gunn's Superman makes his debut in the DC Universe. Gunn recently commented on the script delay of The Batman: Part II, which had left DC fans feeling frustrated. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated, "Listen, we’re supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it. People should get off Matt’s nuts because it’s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That’s just the way it is. He doesn’t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does."

"I am irritated by people. I mean, it’s just that thing people don’t need to be entitled about. It’s going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt’s not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay," Gunn added.
