Samantha Ruth Prabhu continues to raise the bar-literally-when it comes to fitness. Known for her dedication to all things health and wellness, the Kushi actress recently shared another inspiring workout moment on Instagram, and it’s got fans (and fitness enthusiasts) talking.

This time, Samantha took on the dead hang challenge with her fitness coaches Pavneet Chhabra and Paridhi Joshi. While many struggle to hold on for even 30 seconds, the trio powered through a jaw-dropping 90 seconds of hanging-proving that true strength comes from commitment and consistency.

For the uninitiated, a dead hang involves simply hanging from a bar with your arms extended. It may seem basic, but this move is a powerhouse when it comes to improving grip strength, shoulder stability, posture, and even reducing muscle tension. And the best part? You don’t need a fancy gym-just a sturdy bar and a whole lot of grit.

Samantha’s caption was as powerful as the workout itself:

“It's not about how you look. Not about genetics. Not about muscle mass or flexed selfies. It's about how strong you are, when no one's watching.”

In the same clip, she included an insightful audio snippet from Peter Attia, a well-known Canadian-American physician. He emphasized how grip strength isn't just about holding on-it’s a key indicator of overall body strength and long-term health. According to Attia, “A male between the ages of 40 and 50 should be able to dead hang for two minutes. 90 seconds for a female. Another metric that we have for males between the ages of 40 and 50, they should be able to carry their body weight 50 percent in each hand for a minute.”

“If someone weighs 90 kilos, they should be able to put 45 kilos in each hand and walk for a minute. And for a female, they should be able to carry three-quarters of their body weight for a minute. That is a great indication of upper body strength, but also of balance and coordination,” he added.

He also stressed that grip strength is linked to longevity, balance, and even a lower risk of dementia. “It’s enormous,” he said, explaining how people with strong grip strength have a 70% lower risk of developing and dying from dementia compared to those with weak grip.
