BTS Jin Makes History As First Global Ambassador For Luxury Brand Fred

Fresh off completing his mandatory military service in South Korea, BTS member Jin is wasting no time making his mark. Recently named a torchbearer for the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics, Jin has now ventured into the world of fashion.

BTS member Jin has been chosen as the worldwide ambassador for the prestigious French luxury jewellery label Fred . On July 8, Fred Jewelry announced Jin as their new Global Brand Ambassador. In an Instagram post, the French brand stated, “Maison FRED is delighted to introduce its new Global Brand Ambassador: Jin from BTS, a 21st-century pop icon. Kind-hearted and dedicated, with a perpetual smile and a great sense of humour, the eternal lover of life perfectly embodies the spirit of Maison FRED. His collaboration with The Sunshine Jeweler promises to sparkle uniquely. Fred Jewelry, established in 1936 in Paris by Fred Samuel, is renowned for its exquisite jewellery and watches. Known as the "Sunshine Jeweler," Fred Samuel earned this nickname due to his deep appreciation for light and his infectious zest for life, as noted by LVMH, the brand's parent company. Jin, the eldest member of BTS and the first to complete his military service, now serves as the brand's inaugural ambassador.

Jin also shared on his personal Instagram, expressing in English, "I'm thankful to be a part of the FRED family as their Global Brand Ambassador." In Korean, he added, "I'm genuinely happy and honoured to be chosen as the global brand ambassador for the prestigious French jewellery Maison Fred. Please anticipate the exciting and diverse activities I'll be doing with Fred in the days ahead."

Previously, BTS members were ambassadors for Louis Vuitton, also under the LVMH umbrella. Following the conclusion of that partnership and their enlistments, the members pursued various solo ventures in the fashion industry. J-Hope returned as a Louis Vuitton ambassador, Suga joined Valentino's menswear DI.VA.s, Jimin was appointed a global brand ambassador for Dior, and Jungkook starred in campaigns for Calvin Klein.

Valérie Samuel, the granddaughter of Fred's founder and the current Artistic Director and Vice President explained the rationale behind selecting Jin, saying, "His vibrant energy, artistic abilities, values, and exceptional standards strongly resonate with us." Jin also expressed his gratitude and pride in joining the Fred family.
After finishing his 18-month mandatory military service, he was discharged on June 12, just one day before BTS' anniversary. He participated in an in-person hug event, reuniting with fans after a long absence during BTS FESTA 2024, which celebrated the group's 11th debut anniversary.
