An Air India Express flight heading to Doha made a mid-air U-turn on Wednesday morning, returning to Calicut just two hours after takeoff due to a technical snag.
Flight IX 375 had departed from Kozhikode at 9:05 AM with 188 people on board, including crew and pilots. Around 11:15 AM, the aircraft safely landed back at the Calicut airport after issues were detected with the cabin's air conditioning system.

“There was a technical issue in the aircraft’s cabin AC. It was not an emergency landing," adding that all passengers were safely deboarded. The airline quickly took action by arranging an alternative aircraft to complete the journey.
Later, in an official statement, the airline confirmed that the flight returned to Kozhikode due to a technical issue.
One of our flights returned to Kohzikode after take-off due to a technical issue," the spokesperson said.
“We arranged an alternative aircraft on priority, provided the guests with refreshments during the delay, and the flight has since departed," the airline statement said.
“We regret the inconvenience and reiterate that safety remains our top priority in every aspect of our operations," it added.
Just a day earlier, an Air India flight from Hong Kong to New Delhi reported an auxiliary power unit (APU) fire shortly after landing at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The incident took place on July 22, 2025, as Flight AI 315 was parked at the gate and passengers had started disembarking.
In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said, “Flight AI 315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 22 July 2025, experienced an auxiliary power unit (APU) fire shortly after it had landed and parked at the gate. The incident occurred while passengers had begun disembarking, and the APU was automatically shut down as per system design."
