Health & Safety Tips for a Safe Amarnath Yatra

  • Build stamina early: Begin walking 4–5 km daily at least a month before your journey.

  • Practice yoga & pranayama: Enhance your breathing capacity and oxygen intake.

  • Reach in advance: Arrive at the base camp 1–2 days early to acclimatize to the altitude.

  • Stay well-hydrated: Aim to drink up to 5 litres of water a day.

  • Eat light & simple: Choose easy-to-digest foods like rice and rotis; avoid fried or oily items.

  • Dress in layers: Mountain weather shifts quickly—layer your clothing for flexibility.

  • Monitor for altitude sickness: If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or exhausted, seek help immediately.

  • Medical help is nearby: Health posts are set up every 2 km along the Yatra route.

  • Avoid alcohol and smoking: These increase the risk of dehydration and breathing issues.

  • Keep documents ready: Carry your valid ID and Yatra permits at all times.

  • Respect the journey: Walk at your own pace-this is a pilgrimage, not a race.
