CM Dhami Returns to Roots: Ploughs Field, Plants Paddy, Pays Tribute to Farmers

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took a heartwarming step on Saturday by visiting his native village in the Khatima region and personally planting paddy in his ancestral field. Dressed in simple traditional attire, Dhami not only ploughed the field but also paid a symbolic tribute to the spirit of farmers, calling them the backbone of India's economy and the keepers of its traditions.
Through his social media post, the Chief Minister said that stepping into the fields brought back memories of his early life. He emphasized that this act was more than symbolic—it was a salute to the hard work, dedication, and selflessness of farmers across the country.
A special cultural moment marked the occasion as Dhami participated in a traditional "Hudkiya Baul" performance—a local folk practice in which prayers were offered to Bhumiya Devta
Locals and farmers in the region were moved by the CM’s personal involvement in the paddy plantation, seeing it as a rare moment of genuine leadership rooted in humility. The initiative is being praised as an effort to revive cultural pride and boost the morale of farmers ahead of the monsoon sowing season.
Dhami’s gesture is being seen as more than just a photo opportunity—it has struck a chord with the rural populace and is likely to become a symbol of leadership that walks alongside the people it serves.
