Delhi Car Blast Case: NIA Arrests Seventh Accused Soyab from Faridabad for Aiding Suicide Bomber
Faridabad : In a major development in the ongoing investigation of the Delhi car blast , the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested the seventh suspect, identified as Soyab, a resident of Faridabad in Haryana.
According to reports, Soyab played a crucial role by providing logistical support to suicide bomber Mohammad Umar Nabi .
NIA Raids Dhauj Residence Linked to Terror Module
NIA teams carried out searches at Soyab’s residence in Dhauj. During the raid, officials also brought along Dr Muzammil Shakeel, who had already been arrested in connection with both the Delhi car blast and the Faridabad 'white collar' terror module, as reported by News18.
Reports further state that Soyab was working at Al-Falah University as a ward boy and had even given shelter to Nabi.
Investigators also found that Shakeel had allegedly stored a grinder and a portable furnace at Soyab’s house tools that were reportedly used to make explosives.
The NIA has now arrested seven individuals linked to the attack. The accused include:
Shakeel
Adeel Ahmed Rather
Shaheen Saeed
Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay
Soyab
The investigation also led NIA teams to visit Al-Falah University for further inquiry.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that the suicide bomber, Mohammad Umar Nabi, wanted to avenge the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, who was shot dead by Indian armed forces in 2016. Nabi also referred to himself as an “emir”, reported NDTV.
Last week, security agencies revealed that Shakeel had allegedly been using a flour mill to prepare bombs by processing chemicals. This machine had been installed at his rented accommodation in Faridabad and reportedly used for months, according to News18.
A day before the attack, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir Police recovered 2,900 kg of explosives, including 360 kg of ammonium nitrate, along with other materials used to make IEDs.
The blast killed at least 15 people and left several others injured, sending shockwaves across the national capital.
