What is a Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)?

The Vehicle Registration Certificate, or RC, is an official document issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) when a vehicle is registered. It confirms that the vehicle is registered with the Indian government and includes essential details such as the owner's name, vehicle type, registration number, engine number, chassis number, and more.

Is a Digital RC Valid?

Yes, digital RCs stored in the DigiLocker or mParivahan apps are legally recognised by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. As per the Motor Vehicles Act and notifications from the Ministry, digital documents accessed from these apps are as valid as physical ones during traffic checks.
