Good news for millions of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation ( EPFO ) subscribers! You can now view your PF account balance and download your passbook instantly through DigiLocker , bringing more convenience to your fingertips.
On Friday, 17 July 2025, EPFO announced via a social media post on X that its services are now officially available on DigiLocker. This means members can securely access their key documents anytime, anywhere — including the Universal Account Number (UAN) Card, Pension Payment Order (PPO), and Scheme Certificate.
Easy Access Through DigiLocker and UMANG App
Android users can now directly check their PF passbook and balance on DigiLocker, without needing to switch apps. While UMANG – the Indian government’s unified mobile app for e-governance – has long offered this facility, the new direct integration with DigiLocker streamlines the process even further.
For iOS users, EPFO currently directs them to download the UMANG app when trying to view their passbook via DigiLocker. However, there are indications this direct DigiLocker access may soon be extended to iOS as well.
Activate Your UAN with Face Authentication
In another update on 18 July, EPFO shared that members can now authenticate and activate their UAN easily using Face Authentication on the UMANG app. UAN activation is essential for availing a range of EPFO online services , including checking your EPF balance, submitting claims, updating contact details, and accessing other digital facilities.
Linked to the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme
UAN activation is also critical for employees who wish to benefit from the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, recently launched by Prime Minister Modi. The initiative aims to provide employment and skill development opportunities to over four crore youth, supported by a financial outlay of ₹2 lakh crore.
A Step Towards Digital Empowerment
EPFO recommends all its members to activate their UAN and ensure their Aadhaar and bank accounts are linked. This step unlocks seamless digital access to EPFO services, making it easier than ever to manage your provident fund account, claim benefits under the ELI scheme, and keep your financial information up to date.
With these new digital integrations, EPFO reaffirms its commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency and user convenience for millions of Indian workers.
