Long drives on national highways are set to become easier for frequent travellers. From August 15, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will introduce a FASTag Annual Pass , a prepaid plan that takes the stress out of multiple toll payments. The scheme, priced at Rs 3,000, is meant for private, non-commercial vehicles and allows 200 toll crossings or one year of usage, whichever comes first.

The new annual pass is expected to save both time and money for daily commuters and long-distance travellers who often face repeated toll deductions. By offering a one-time prepaid option, NHAI aims to reduce congestion at toll plazas, speed up vehicle movement, and provide a hassle-free alternative to constant FASTag recharges.

How It Works

The FASTag Annual Pass functions just like the current FASTag system, supporting contactless digital payments . Once activated, it covers up to 200 toll transactions across the year. After exhausting either the trip count or the validity period, the pass automatically shifts back to the regular pay-per-trip FASTag system.

Easy Upgrade for Existing Users

Motorists with an active FASTag don’t need to buy a new one. They can upgrade seamlessly by paying Rs 3,000 through the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website using their vehicle number and FASTag ID. The pass becomes active immediately after payment confirmation.

No Auto-Renewal

Users should note that the FASTag Annual Pass does not renew automatically. After 200 trips or one year, the benefit ends, and drivers must reapply and pay again to continue enjoying the plan.

By launching this prepaid option, NHAI is making highway travel more predictable, economical, and stress-free for lakhs of Indian motorists.
