"Her memory will forever remain cherished": Bihar CM Nitish Kumar pays tribute to Sharda Sinha on her first death anniversary
New Delhi [India], November 5 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday paid tribute to the late folk singer Sharda Sinha on her first death anniversary, recalling her immense contribution in promoting Bihar's culture and folk traditions through her timeless songs, particularly those associated with the Chhath Mahaparva.
In a post on X, CM Kumar wrote, "On the death anniversary of Smt. Sharda Sinha ji, the Nightingale of Bihar, honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, we offer our humble tribute to her."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, popularly known as the 'Bihar Kokila', on her first death anniversary, recalling her immense contribution to Bihar's cultural heritage and Indian folk music.
Sharda Sinha, known for her melodious voice and timeless Chhath songs, was a household name in Bihar and across India. Her music, rooted in the folk traditions of the state, played a major role in popularising Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Magahi songs across generations.
Popular Folk singer Sharda Sinha, celebrated for her soulful Chhath songs, died on November 5 last year, after battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, for several years. The Padma Bhushan awardee had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi after being admitted on October 27, 2024.
