Western Disturbance Brings Winter’s First Chill

A new Western Disturbance has turned active, triggering a sudden dip in temperatures across northern India. The IMD forecasts light rain and snowfall in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next two days.

Snow in the hill states has already intensified the cold in the plains, while Delhi is beginning to experience crisp mornings and breezy evenings a clear hint that winter is near.

Rain Alerts for Southern and Coastal States

The IMD has also sounded a yellow alert for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, warning of rain, lightning, and isolated thunderstorms.

Southern states are set to enjoy scattered rainfall through the week, offering a brief relief from the heat. Rain activity will continue in Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam from November 4 to 6, keeping conditions pleasantly cool.

Heavy Rain Forecast for Northeast India

The Northeast is also bracing for widespread rain. The IMD predicts heavy showers and thunderstorms in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next 48 hours.

This system is expected to add moisture to the region’s atmosphere while extending the cool weather across eastern India.

Weather Update for Gujarat and Maharashtra

The Western Disturbance’s ripple effect will also reach parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The IMD has predicted lightning and scattered rain in Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra between November 5 and 7.
These intermittent spells of rain are likely to bring mild relief from the dry heat that has lingered over the region.

Temperature Dip in Jharkhand and Bihar

In Jharkhand, temperatures are expected to drop notably over the next few days. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre anticipates a minimum of around 15°C and a maximum below 30°C.

In Bihar, westerly winds blowing at nearly 30 km/h are drawing in cooler air. Over the next three days, minimum temperatures are forecast between 18°C and 22°C, while maximums may range from 26°C to 30°C, hinting at a comfortable start to the pre-winter season.

Winter’s Early Arrival

From the snow-laden hills of Himachal to the rain-soaked coasts of Tamil Nadu, India is stepping into a new weather phase. With the Western Disturbance influencing multiple states, the coming week will see a mix of rain, snow, and dropping temperatures, setting the stage for a cooler November ahead.
