A recent viral video from the ongoing Kanwar Yatra has set off a wave of criticism, as it captures a moment that many feel clashes with the spirit of the pilgrimage. In the clip, two women are seen dancing atop a brightly lit, DJ-equipped truck, surrounded by cheering saffron-clad Kanwariyas. The spectacle, more like a moving stage than a religious procession, has prompted furious debate online.

The video, location still unverified, shows the truck crossing a flyover—possibly over a river—while loud music blares. One of the women dances in front of a crowd of male devotees, with text over the video reading "ये कैसे भक्त हैं 😡😡 (What kind of devotees are these?)," echoing the sentiment of many upset viewers.

Traditionally, the Kanwar Yatra is a spiritual journey marked by discipline, simplicity, and devotion. Every year, millions of Shiva devotees walk long distances to collect holy water from the Ganges and offer it at Shiva temples. But in recent years, the yatra has witnessed a shift—decorated trucks, booming DJs, and now, dance performances.

Social media has erupted in disapproval. Many have slammed the incident as a mockery of faith, arguing that the pilgrimage is becoming a spectacle rather than a sacred ritual. Critics are calling for more stringent rules and cultural awareness to safeguard the sanctity of such religious events.

So far, no official statement has come from authorities. However, with public pressure mounting, action may soon follow as India grapples with balancing tradition and modern expressions in its spiritual journeys.
