LPG Subsidy: Rs 300 Per Cylinder For Customers - Here's How To Avail It
Beginning April 2024, millions of LPG cylinder users in India are benefiting from a substantial subsidy. Under the Ujjwala Yojana , this initiative offers a Rs 300 subsidy per cylinder for up to 12 cylinders annually. Here’s how you can take advantage of this scheme.
What is the Ujjwala Yojana?
Launched in 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to provide clean cooking fuel to rural and economically disadvantaged households. The government offers free LPG connections to adult women from these families, ensuring they no longer need to rely on traditional and often harmful cooking methods. Initially, beneficiaries had to purchase LPG cylinders at market rates, but the government later introduced a subsidy to offset these costs.
Increased Subsidy for 2024-2025
In March 2024, the central government announced a boost in the LPG subsidy , raising it from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per cylinder. This enhanced subsidy will continue until March 31, 2025. The subsidy is directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, making the process seamless and transparent.
