A recent video shot inside an Air India flight has stirred public outrage and reignited concerns about civic sense and inflight etiquette among Indian travelers. Captured shortly after a flight from Bangkok landed in Delhi, the footage shows several passengers standing up and moving inside the cabin while the plane was still taxiing on the runway - despite repeated safety announcements and warnings from the crew.

The video, shared on Instagram by the page storychaplin, known for highlighting issues around public behavior and civic responsibility in India, has since gone viral. The clip clearly shows passengers rising from their seats, opening overhead bins, and even walking down the aisle, ignoring both the illuminated seatbelt sign and direct instructions from flight attendants.

“Remain Seated, Please” - Crew’s Pleas Go Unheard

In the video, a flight attendant can be heard trying to maintain order: “Excuse me, remain seated. Ma’am the seatbelt sign is on.” One man in an orange t-shirt is seen blatantly getting up from his window seat, stepping into the aisle, and walking forward despite being asked multiple times to sit down. “Sir, sir… remain seated please,” the crew member repeats, but to no avail.

“Excuse me. Remain seated please. Seatbelt sign is still on, please be seated,” the flight attendant said repeatedly, trying to regain control.

The video’s caption delivers a scathing commentary:

“Just landed in Delhi from Bangkok on an Air India flight. The plane was still moving, cabin crew was still strapped, and yet… passengers started standing, opening overhead bins, ignoring every single safety instruction.”

It concluded with the line: “Why the world hates us,” referencing the perception of Indian travelers abroad.

Public Reaction: “Embarrassing and Dangerous”

The video has since sparked a massive reaction online, with thousands of viewers slamming the behavior as reckless and disgraceful. With over 3,000 comments, the post has become a hub for frustrated flyers to vent their concerns.

“There should be fine at every level.. then only people will fall in line,” one user wrote. Another commented, “They will stand for 10 mins in aisle to save 15 seconds and then wait at the belt for 30 mins with everyone else.”

Safety Risks and the Bigger Issue

Aviation experts warn that standing while the plane is still taxiing can be extremely dangerous. Sudden stops or sharp turns can lead to serious injuries or falling luggage. Passengers moving around during this critical phase can also obstruct the crew’s operations and delay emergency responses if needed.

A Wake-Up Call?

While the video has certainly drawn attention, many are hoping it sparks something more-an honest conversation about accountability, civic training, and the need for change. As air travel becomes more accessible, experts believe educating travelers about inflight etiquette and safety isn’t just important-it’s essential.

Until then, flight crews may continue to struggle with passengers who seem more eager to reach the exit than follow the rules that ensure everyone’s safety.
