Punjab: Holiday Declared in Rain-Hit Districts
Authorities in Pathankot, Fazilka, Bathinda and Hoshiarpur have suspended classes in both government and private schools. The decision was taken after the weather office warned of more rain, raising concerns of flooding in vulnerable areas.
Himachal Pradesh: Red Alert Issued, Schools Shut
In Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in districts such as Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur. Educational institutions in Shimla, Mandi, Manali, Una and Bilaspur will remain closed. Officials have cited the risks of landslides and flash floods as key reasons for the shutdown.

The Jammu administration has ordered the closure of all schools, both government and private, across the division on August 26. The step was taken in view of the worsening weather conditions and the risk posed to students’ safety.

The Delhi-NCR region, including Noida and Greater Noida, received heavy showers on Tuesday. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rainfall, but schools remain open as of now.
