Deepika Padukone shares why 8-hour workday is ideal, urges support for new working mothers: 'We mistake burnout for commitment'
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone , in recent times has stirred discussion about work culture in films by supporting an eight-hour workday , especially for new mothers. Earlier this year, the actress parted ways with two major projects, 'Spirit' and the sequel to 'Kalki 2898 AD', reportedly because she wanted more time with her young daughter, Dua.
Known for speaking her mind, she is once again drawing attention to the pressures of overworking and the need for healthier, balanced schedules on film sets.

Deepika Padukone emphasises support for mothers at workIn a recent Harper’s Bazaar India interview, the 'Om Shanti Om' actress explained her stand, “I feel strongly about how new mothers need to be supported when they return to work. That’s something I want to focus on. We’ve normalised overworking. We mistake burnout for commitment. Eight hours of work a day is enough for the human body and mind.”
She further added, “Only when you’re healthy can you give your best. Bringing a burnt-out person back into the system helps no one. In my own office, we work eight hours a day, Monday to Friday. We have maternity and paternity policies. We should normalise bringing children to work.”
Deepika Padukone explains how time defines her successThe 'Chennai Express' actress also reflected on how her priorities have changed after becoming a mother. That, for me, is success.”
