Dharmendra's health crisis: Saif demands laws against 'brutal...violation of privacy'
As veteran actor Dharmendra recovers after hospitalization, Saif Ali Khan has spoken out against the media frenzy surrounding the incident.
Speaking to News 24 Online, he called for stricter laws to protect families during medical emergencies.
"There should definitely be laws against such brutal violation of privacy," said Khan, adding that India urgently needs to address this issue.
Khan recalls his family's ordeal during Pataudi's hospitalization
Khan also shared how his family dealt with similar media attention when his father, the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was hospitalized.
"We experienced a situation like this when Abba was in the hospital. We were constantly fobbing off unwanted attention while dealing with the crisis at hand."
He said that the constant media scrutiny made an already difficult situation even more challenging for their family.
Dharmendra's family requests media and public to respect privacy
The Deol family has also requested the media and the public to respect their privacy.
In a statement, they said, "We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from further speculation and to respect his and the family's privacy during this time."
The note ended with a reminder of Dharmendra's affection for his fans: "Please respect him because he loves you."
Dharmendra's health update and recovery progress
Dharmendra, who was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after reportedly experiencing breathlessness, was discharged on Wednesday morning.
His doctor, Dr. Pratit Samdani, confirmed that the actor had been discharged and his treatment would continue at home.
The veteran actor has since been visited by colleagues and friends who have expressed their support for his recovery.
Paparazzi's intrusion during personal crises sparks outrage
The media intrusion into Dharmendra's family life has drawn criticism from other celebrities as well.
Actor Nikitin Dheer, who recently lost his father, shared a note on Instagram Stories condemning the paparazzi and likening them to "vultures."
Farah Khan Ali also expressed her discontent on social media, highlighting the insensitivity of public figures' families during personal tragedies.
