New Community Hall and Library Project Launched in Dharapur
Dharapur, June 29: The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has officially announced the start of construction for a long-awaited community hall and library in Dharapur, responding to a request from local residents.
This initiative, with an estimated budget of approximately Rs 3 crore, aims to enhance community engagement by offering a dedicated venue for cultural events and modern educational resources for students.
During the foundation-laying event, Sarma revealed that the initial phase of the project will encompass 5,000 square feet, backed by an investment of Rs 60 lakh. He also pledged an additional Rs 40 lakh to ensure the project progresses on schedule.
"We received a request for a community hall and library in Dharapur some time ago. I am delighted to announce that we have commenced the first phase of construction with an investment of Rs 60 lakh," he stated.
The second phase is planned to expand the facility to a total of 15,000 square feet, contingent on community needs and further discussions.
Sarma elaborated, "The first phase will cover 5,000 square feet, and based on the taluk’s feedback, the second phase will add another 10,000 square feet. The overall project cost will be around Rs 3 crore. I will allocate an additional Rs 40 lakh for this phase, and we will engage with the public to strategize the next steps accordingly."
He emphasized the project's focus on students, stating, "We will establish both a traditional library and a digital library. This will provide students with access to essential learning materials and enhance their educational experience."
The initiative is designed to address the deficiencies in community infrastructure and digital learning opportunities, particularly in semi-urban regions like Dharapur.
Construction is anticipated to proceed rapidly, with the first phase set to create a vital space for local gatherings and student activities.
