When Tom Brady's brutal Las Vegas joke brought back Kevin Hart's 2017 cheating scandal at the roast: 'I broke another rule'

Tom Brady brought Kevin Hart’s 2017 cheating scandal back into the spotlight during Netflix’s roast on Sunday night, using a Las Vegas joke that pointed to one of the comedian’s most public controversies. Brady appeared in the opening act and joked about returning to his “affairs in Las Vegas,” a line that seemed to refer to his own role with the Las Vegas Raiders while also taking a clear swipe at Hart’s past scandal involving his wife, Eniko Hart.

Kevin Hart's cheating scandal explained

According to Netflix’s roast, Brady told the crowd, “Okay, so this won’t take long, as you know I am a busy man. But I will say a few words before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas.”

He then turned toward Hart and added, “Oh wait. I’m talking about affairs in Las Vegas. Was that off? I think I broke another rule.”

The joke referred to Hart’s 2017 scandal, when the comedian admitted he cheated on Eniko while she was pregnant with their son. The controversy began in September 2017 after a video of Hart with another woman surfaced online.

The woman was later identified as Montia Sabbag, a model and actress. She denied claims that she tried to extort Hart after the video became public.

“My pictures and my name have been released with lies written about me,” Sabbag told reporters in 2017. “I am not an extortionist. I am not a stripper. I am a recording artist and an actress and I have not broken any laws.”

Kevin Hart's lawsuit and Eniko Hart’s reaction

Sabbag later filed a USD 60 million lawsuit on September 16, 2019. The lawsuit named Jonathan Todd Jackson, the man accused of recording the video, along with Hart and the hotel authorities. She accused them of negligence in allowing Jackson access to the property where the video was filmed.

Eniko later spoke about the pain caused by the scandal. In a 2019 interview with Good Morning America, she recalled seeing the video for the first time.

“Immediately I just lost it,” she said. “I called him, I’m crying, I’m like pissed.”

She added, “Right then and there, I just kept saying, ’How the f–k did you let that happen?’”

Eniko said the public nature of the scandal made it harder to process. “He publicly humiliated me. Everything’s on Instagram, everything’s on social media, so it was an ongoing fight, all the time, every single day.”

She also said she questioned their marriage after the incident. “I kept questioning him, like, ‘If this is what you wanna do, I don’t want to be a part of that,’” she said.
