Guru Purnima 2025: Significance
Guru Purnima holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus and they worship Guru on this sacred day. The day also celebrates the birth anniversary of Maharishi Veda Vyas, who contributed to write Mahabharata, one of the important sacred text of Hindus. This day is celebrated with great reverence and people visit their spiritual Gurus, temples, perform hawan, worship their deities as they also guide and protects them time to time from external evil energies. This day is also important for showing gratitude to the teachers or mentors, who always have guided, encouraged and supported you to get success in life.
Who is Guru?
The one, who demonstrates the correct way is the guru. A guru is a person, whose teachings and wisdom continuously illuminate the globe. He explains the truth about our running thoughts, remove the illusions and encourage us to walk the road of righteousness. 1. Rise early and touch your parents' and older siblings' feet and seek their blessings.
2. Offer prayers to Lord Surya after taking a bath.
3. Honor the God of wisdom and knowledge, Lord Ganesha.
4. If you have a spiritual guru, you should go see him so that you can touch his feet to thank him and receive blessings.
5. Offer clothes, shoes, fruits, and dakshina to Brahmins and Gurus on this auspicious day of Guru Purnima.
6. Say thanks to your father and mother by giving presents or offering sweets for guiding you and supporting you in every decision of life.
6. Chant the Guru Mantra if you have taken any deeksha otherwise you chant the below mentioned mantras.
