For Hindus, Vaikuntha Chaturdashi is a very important religious and spiritual day. The day totally devoted to worship Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. This day coincides with the meeting of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva on Kartik Purnima. In Ujjain, this day is also known as Hari Har Milan. The idol of Lord Shiva is moved from Mahakleshawar Temple to Gopal Temple on this auspicious day, which is celebrated with much fanfare and spectacle.

Since Lord Vishnu has now emerged from Ksheer Sagar, Lord Shiva assigns him all of the duties to govern this cosmos once more on Vaikuntha Chaturdashi.
