As India gears up for the first Test against England at Headingley, all eyes are on a youthful squad stepping into a new era of Test cricket . With legends Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin having retired from the format, the spotlight now falls on Shubman Gill, who takes over as India’s youngest-ever Test captain.

Fresh Faces, Big Goals
This series marks a turning point. After recent disappointments against New Zealand and Australia that dashed India’s World Test Championship (WTC) final hopes, the team is determined to bounce back.

"It is a new group. We are missing a few senior players, and yeah, it is a young team led by a really young captain," KL Rahul shared in a video released by the BCCI.

Despite the inexperience, Gill is optimistic about the future.
"Everyone is so young and it will be relatively easy and exciting to be able to mould this team into what we would want we want in the next 10-15 years of Indian cricket to becomes," Gill said confidently.

Strength in Balance
With a mix of fresh talent and seasoned players, the team is banking on versatility and balance.

"As a team, our balance is very good. We will play good cricket," Ravindra Jadeja noted, backing the squad's composition.

Pacer Shardul Thakur, who has already played four Tests in England, highlighted the importance of adaptability.
"I think it is very exciting to play in this part of the world. Sometimes it is cloudy, and sometimes it is bright sunny, and as a player, you need to make adjustments to your game, whether you are batting or bowling."
