Kohli's Signature Aggression Returns In Full Flow After RCB's Epic Chase Sparks Massive Reactions
In a nail biting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match on May 10 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur RCB narrowly defeated MI by 2 wickets. The win takes RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 14 points from 11 games while Mumbai Indians are out of the playoffs officially.
Rajat Patidar captain of RCB, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians faltered early with Rohit Sharma scoring 22 and Ryan Rickelton failing to leave a mark.
The turning point in Mumbai's innings was the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav without scoring but Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir staged a comeback with a crucial partnership, scoring 57 and 47 runs respectively to guide Mumbai to 166/7 in their 20 overs boosted by some timely hitting from the lower order. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with figures of 4/23 in a dominant spell.
Krunal Pandya keeps RCB alive in a tough chase. The worst possible start for RCB in their pursuit was the dismissal of Virat Kohli for a golden duck while Jacob Bethell made 27 and Rajat Patidar managed only 8 runs.
Jitesh Sharma scored 18 but wickets tumbled at regular intervals, until Krunal Pandya played a match-winning, composed innings of 73 from 46 balls including four boundaries and five sixes to bring RCB within touching distance. The pressure mounted on RCB as Krunal was dismissed at a critical moment requiring 15 off the final over with only the tailenders remaining.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds his nerve in the final over. Romario Shepherd scored 4 from 11 balls and with nine runs needed off the final three balls Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit a first-ball six off Raj Bawa and two runs on the final ball by Rasikh Salam sealed a thrilling two-wicket victory for RCB.
Virat Kohli was ecstatic and celebrated by jumping in the air and hugging Krunal Pandya as the team rejoiced in one of their most important victories.
