Newcastle make fresh Alexander Isak point just hours before crunch Liverpool clash

Newcastle have sent a message to wantaway striker Alexander Isak after leaving him out of a pre-match video ahead of their clash with Liverpool at St James' Park. Isak is pushing for a move to Liverpool and is currently training away from the first team.

Newcastle have rejected a £110million bid from Liverpool for the Swedish striker and he will not be in action when they host the Reds. And in a video released ahead of the match, Isak was conspicuous by his absence.

The likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier, Antony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy were all highlighted instead. The video was shared on social media with the caption: "Under the lights. Electric. Bring the noise, Geordies".

Isak will be a big loss for Newcastle, particularly as he has scored four goals in six games for them against Liverpool, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him. Last week, Isak spoke out for the first time and accused Newcastle of breaking promises they had made to him.

"I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken," Isak said. "That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.

"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.

"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."

However, Newcastle have insisted that "the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired" and that they "do not foresee those conditions being met" before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, though, is hopeful things will be resolved "pretty quickly". Speaking ahead of the clash with Liverpool, Howe told reporters: "He won't be part of the squad this weekend.

"The club has to act in the best interests of Newcastle United. It will do that in every situation It looks like it is coming to an end, or it will come to an end pretty quickly."
