How to create images and videos using Grok Imagine: A step-by-step guide

Grok Imagine is now free for everyone in the Grok app , Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) posted. The announcement comes hours after Sam Altman-led OpenAI revealed its latest AI model – GPT-5. For those unaware, Grok Imagine is an advanced AI model that can generate video and images from text or voice prompts. It has been developed by Elon Musk-owned xAI. While OpenAI’s Sora text-to-video model and Google’s Veo 3 offer similar capabilities, both remain accessible only to paying users. Sharing an update of the feature, Elon Musk wote on X: "Over 44 million images created by Grok Imagine for users vs 22 million yesterday!".

How to generate image using Grok Imagine
To begin, one needs to install the Grok app on their smartphone. Head to Google Play Store and Apple App Store to download the app. Once installed and signed into the Grok app,


  • Go to the chat window in Grok app
  • Here you will see a new Imagine tab at the top right corner
  • Tap on it
  • Next, you can either
  • Enter a text prompt describing the image you want the AI tool to create
  • Or, you can upload an existing image and command the AI tool to customise as per your requirements
  • How to generate video using Grok Imagine
    After your image is generated, choose the “Make video” option. Here you can choose from one of four modes: Normal, Fun, Custom, or the more audacious Spicy mode.
