Meta Quest 3S reaches lowest ever price thanks to 21% Amazon discount
Black Friday may be a few weeks away but there are already some great deals for tech lovers - and we've spotted a brilliant deal for VR fans.
The Meta Quest 3S is Meta's budget VR headset that allows users to play games, watch movies and immerse themselves in the world of VR. The good news is that Amazon has cut the price to £229 - the lowest price it has ever been.
According to camelcamelcamel, the lowest price it has ever been before today was £239, meaning it's a great time to snap up the device.
The Quest 3S is a lightweight version of the Meta Quest 3 and allows buyers to turn their room into their personal cinema, playground or social media space wherever they are. The device even comes with three months free of Meta Horizon+, meaning Meta Quest users can access and play a wide variety of games for free when they grab the Meta Quest 3S.
When it comes to alternatives to consider, there are plenty of VR headsets to choose from for those looking to invest in one. Argos is selling the bigger brother of the Meta Quest 3S, the Quest 3, for £444.99 which comes with a better resolution and more internal memory. There's also the more expensive Hive Pro 2 for £649.99 for those who want to go all out.
Returning to the Quest 3S, it currently boasts brilliant reviews with 4.5 stars out of five on Amazon. One reviewer said: "I've been sceptical of VR headsets in the past, partly because the apps weren't there and decent headsets cost far more than most people would expect to pay. But the Meta Quest 3S may be a turning point.
"Set-up was very easy and fast, starting with scanning a QR code and using your mobile to complete the process. Getting comfortable with headset was straight forward, and so too was navigating the menus and downloading worlds. Tried just a few worlds so far and I'd say resolution is similar to playing on a PS4, maybe a Switch at worst. Very immersive though and feels truly odd to hold up your arms and see that even they look different. All very smooth as well."
Another reviewer added: "I'm not a massive fan of Meta, and didn't want to like these as much as I do! Are they perfect? Nope! But for this price, it's hard to find fault, really. The games are generally good, and there are a lot of them. The monthly fee includes a selection of free games and a few extras, which is acceptable. We bought it for beatsaber, which the kids love and works perfectly."
However, some reviewers did note that the headset's resolution was lacking. Another shopper said: "Meta Quest 3S is an amazing piece of device. I love how powerful it is, I love its cameras, I love many things about it. The comfort can be extremely good if you get rid of the default head strap. Battery life is also pretty good - it lasts enough to have a lot of fun.
"But why did I refund it? Well, 3S was my first VR ever. Even though it was powerful, I still wanted a sharp image which 3S does not offer."
