In an official update, SBI stated that its UPI services will be down for 20 minutes-from 1:00 AM to 1:20 AM (IST) on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The brief disruption is part of routine maintenance work aimed at ensuring smoother operations going forward.
But there's no need to panic-UPI Lite will remain fully operational during this period.
It works like a digital wallet that doesn’t require a PIN for each transaction-just a single tap and go.
Key Features and Limits of UPI Lite
The balance in your UPI Lite account is treated like cash, so handle it responsibly. Also, if you switch phones, remember to disable UPI Lite on the old device and re-enable it on the new one.
You can top up your UPI Lite wallet anytime directly through your UPI app. Just select the option to “Add Funds” and enter the amount you want to load.
Though SBI’s main UPI services will take a short break in the early hours of August 6, customers needn’t worry. With UPI Lite as a backup, digital payments can continue without interruption. It’s a handy feature to activate if you often make small, everyday transactions.
