WhatsApp is making it easier than ever to stay on top of your conversations—even the ones you’ve already read. In its latest Android beta update (version 2.25.21.14), the messaging app has introduced a new ‘Remind Me’ feature that allows users to set reminders for individual messages, ensuring important information doesn’t get lost in the daily chat flood.

A Smarter Way to Stay Organized

Until now, WhatsApp only prompted users to reply to unread messages, but this new feature steps things up by allowing reminders for read messages too-a move that could be a game-changer for busy users who want to revisit something important later. With this, WhatsApp edges closer to platforms like Slack, which already support message reminders and scheduling tools.

How the 'Remind Me' Feature Works

To access this new functionality, users enrolled in the beta program simply need to tap and hold any message, then tap the three-dot menu at the top right corner and select ‘Remind Me’ from the list.

A pop-up card will appear offering four options:

  • In 2 hours
  • In 8 hours
  • In 24 hours

Custom, where users can manually select the date and time for the reminder

Once a reminder is set, a small bell icon will appear next to the message, and at the scheduled time, WhatsApp will push a notification with the message content. This reminder is private-only the user setting it will receive it, not other participants in the conversation.

Why It Matters

This feature is particularly useful for those who often open messages but can’t respond immediately-whether due to work, travel, or simply forgetting. Instead of having to leave a message unread as a makeshift reminder, users can now rely on WhatsApp to nudge them at the right time.

Though message reminder functionality already exists for unread messages, this new addition adds a layer of personal productivity and enhances message management, especially in professional or high-volume chats.

Coming Soon to All Users

The feature is currently in testing and only available to beta testers on Android. However, it's expected to roll out more widely in a future stable update, likely bringing the same convenience to all WhatsApp users in the near future.

As WhatsApp continues to evolve beyond basic messaging, tools like these highlight the platform’s commitment to improving user experience through smarter, more intuitive features.
