WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging platform, is preparing to integrate an AI-powered helper directly into chats. Called Writing Help, the feature is designed to improve how users communicate by offering suggestions on grammar, phrasing, and tone.
Write more professional-sounding messages in business contexts
Add humour or warmth in casual chats
Rephrase when they feel stuck or unsure of what to say
What is Writing Help?
Writing Help is an AI tool built into WhatsApp chats that provides users with alternative ways to phrase their messages. It can correct grammar, rephrase sentences, and even adjust the tone—whether professional, supportive, or humorous. How It Works
When enabled, Writing Help displays a pen icon in place of the sticker icon after typing a few words. By tapping the icon, the user’s draft message is securely sent to Meta AI for quick refinement. The tool then returns three polished versions for the user to choose from.Privacy and Security
Meta assures users that Writing Help is powered by Private Processing technology, which sends messages anonymously and encrypted. This means the AI suggestions cannot be traced back to the sender, and WhatsApp does not store any content or data.Control Remains with Users
WhatsApp highlights that Writing Help is optional and turned off by default. AI will only suggest alternatives when the user chooses to activate the tool. The app will never auto-generate messages without explicit permission. You may also like
