'Assam Chai In Europe's Morning Tea Cups': Amit Shah Lauds India-EU FTA In Dibrugarh Rally

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Dibrugarh ahead of the Assam Assembly polls, praised the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) for boosting Assam’s tea industry. He said the agreement allows tea from Assam to enter European markets duty-free, benefiting growers and exporters alike. Speaking at Khanikar Parade Ground, Shah highlighted that Assam tea will now reach consumers across all 27 EU countries, creating a significant opportunity for the state’s economy. He noted that this landmark deal, facilitated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, has placed Assam tea on the global stage, opening new markets and enhancing international recognition for the region’s iconic produce. The FTA is expected to strengthen Assam’s position in global tea exports.
