BJP Ends 15-Year TMC Rule In Bengal As Suvendu Adhikari Takes Oath As Chief Minister

In a historic political development, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the first-ever BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal after the party’s landslide victory in the 2026 Assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and several BJP chief ministers attended the grand swearing-in ceremony at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground.The BJP secured 207 seats, ending the Trinamool Congress’s 15-year rule in Bengal. Alongside Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Kshudiram Tudu and Nisith Pramanik were sworn in as ministers. Portfolios are yet to be announced.
