BJP Ends Alliance Speculation, Amit Shah Says Party Will Go Alone In Punjab

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party will contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections independently, putting an end to speculation about a possible reunion with the Shiromani Akali Dal. Speaking at the Badlaav Rally in Moga’s Killi Chahlan, Shah said the BJP will no longer remain the “chhota bhai” in Punjab politics. He called on voters to give the party an opportunity after years of rule by Congress, Akali Dal and the Aam Aadmi Party. Highlighting the BJP’s 19% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, Shah expressed confidence that the party can expand its support base and form a government in the state.
