BNP Demands Sheikh Hasina's Extradition From India After Bangladesh Poll Win
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which secured a landslide victory in the general elections, has reiterated its call for the extradition of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India to face trial. Senior BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the party backs all legal efforts for her return and has urged India to comply, citing legal obligations and national sovereignty. He added that Bangladesh seeks normal relations with all neighbours, including India, but on equal footing. With the BNP back in Parliament under Tarique Rahman, the party is expected to formally press the extradition issue. India’s MEA had, earlier, affirmed it will engage constructively with all stakeholders to support peace and stability in Bangladesh.
