Centre Urges Citizens To Avoid Panic Booking As India Assures Stable LPG, Fuel Supply Amid War

As global tensions disrupt key energy routes, the Indian government has issued a strong appeal asking citizens not to panic over fuel availability. Speaking in New Delhi, petroleum ministry official Sujata Sharma said domestic supply of LPG, petrol, diesel and kerosene remains stable despite the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. India imports a significant portion of its LPG through the strategic waterway, but officials say the government has already diversified supply routes to ensure uninterrupted availability. The country’s refining capacity and domestic production are also helping cushion global disruptions. Authorities say panic booking has caused a temporary spike in LPG orders, though supply chains remain robust. The government is prioritising essential sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions while working with state governments and oil companies to prevent hoarding and ensure smooth fuel distribution nationwide.
