‘Crucial Role For India In AI Governance’: Duncan Cass-Beggs At AI Summit

Emphasising India’s strategic importance in shaping the future of artificial intelligence, Duncan Cass-Beggs said New Delhi can play a key role in fostering global consensus on AI governance. Speaking to ANI during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Executive Director of the Global AI Risks Initiative at Centre for International Governance Innovation stressed that AI-related risks are global in nature and demand international cooperation. He warned that governments remain underprepared for advanced systems such as Artificial General Intelligence and Artificial Super Intelligence, which could reshape prosperity, security and human agency. Cass-Beggs said while AI offers vast benefits, global limits and safeguards are essential until such systems can be developed and controlled safely.
