Discussed Ways To Fast-Track EU FTA With S Jaishankar: Piyush Goyal

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the Free Trade Agreement between India and the United Kingdom will significantly boost India’s exports by allowing several products to enter the UK market at zero duty. He pointed out that trade agreements in Europe generally take years to clear due to complicated parliamentary approval processes, but India’s deal was passed in the UK Parliament at an unusually fast pace. Goyal also mentioned discussing a potential trade agreement with the European Union during a call with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, signalling progress in broader trade negotiations.
