Fire Breaks Out In Cuttack SCB Medical College ICU, CM Orders Judicial Probe

At least 10 patients were killed after a fire broke out in the trauma care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday morning, one of the largest government hospitals in Odisha. The blaze erupted on the first floor where 23 patients were receiving treatment, leaving five others in critical condition. Officials suspect a short circuit as the cause. Hospital staff and emergency responders evacuated patients as fire tenders brought the flames under control. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered a judicial probe and announced ₹25 lakh compensation for the families of those killed. The incident follows a deadly nor’wester in Mayurbhanj that claimed two lives.
