Former Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal has warned that the ongoing conflict in the Gulf has significantly affected India’s strategic interests in West Asia. He pointed out that the United Arab Emirates, a key partner and major hub for India’s engagement in the region, has been among the countries most impacted by the war. Sibal said the crisis has limited India’s diplomatic room for maneuver, making it difficult for New Delhi to openly challenge or advise the United States on ending the conflict. He also questioned the lack of coordination with global institutions on Middle East policy. According to Sibal, the evolving geopolitical situation has created serious challenges for India in safeguarding its core regional interests.
