'New Phase In Bilateral Ties': Indian High Commissioner Hails PM Modi's 'Historic' Malaysia Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Malaysia on 7–8 February is being described as historic, as it follows the elevation of India–Malaysia ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024. High Commissioner BN Reddy said the visit will focus on translating last year’s agreements into concrete outcomes and adding new dimensions to bilateral cooperation. Key areas include the newly launched security dialogue, expanded engagement in the digital economy through the Malaysia-India Digital Council, and stronger collaboration in renewable energy, semiconductors, and startups. Economic engagement will be further strengthened through the 10th India–Malaysia CEO Forum, bringing together business leaders from both sides. A joint report outlining future cooperation will be presented to Prime Ministers Modi and Anwar Ibrahim after official-level talks.
