Nitish Kumar Files RS Nomination, Vows Support to New State Government

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his Rajya Sabha nomination on Thursday, marking the conclusion of his more than 20-year tenure as the state’s longest-serving Chief Minister. Following the nomination, he was accompanied by Union Minister Amit Shah and other party leaders to the State Guest House in Patna.In a post on social media, Kumar reflected on his political journey, stating that he has long aspired to serve in all legislative capacities. Having previously been a Lok Sabha MP, MLA, and MLC, he said a Rajya Sabha term would complete his experience across both houses of the state legislature and Parliament.Kumar, who has led Bihar as Chief Minister for ten terms since 2005, assured the people that he would provide full support and guidance to the incoming government. He thanked citizens for their consistent trust over the years, noting that it enabled Bihar to achieve new milestones in development and governance.With his departure, the BJP is expected to appoint its first Chief Minister in Bihar, making it the only Hindi heartland state where the party has not yet held the top office. Five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar will go to polls on March 16, and Nitish Kumar’s election to the Upper House is considered almost certain given the strength of the NDA in the state legislature.
