No Secret Arrangement With Iran For Tanker Passage Through Strait Of Hormuz, Says Jaishankar

India has revealed the real story behind the safe passage of its ships through the volatile Strait of Hormuz. External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has said there is no blanket arrangement with Iran allowing Indian vessels to pass through the waterway. Instead, each ship is handled separately through diplomatic communication. The clarification comes after two Indian LPG carriers crossed the strait during heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Jaishankar said India’s talks with Tehran are ongoing and based on a long history of engagement between the two countries. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has moved to deploy naval forces to secure the waterway. For India, which imports large volumes of energy from the Gulf, keeping this route open remains critical for national energy security.
